Wild Atlantic Photography Tours are based in Westport, Co Mayo. Westport was voted by The Irish Times, as the ‘Best Place to Live in Ireland’, in 2012 and is located at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way. In 2017, The Gallery Wine Bar was voted by The Irish Times, as being one of the top ten places for a decent glass of wine in the whole of Ireland.

We have a maximum number of eight people per tour, to ensure authenticity of service and to maximise learning outcomes. Tours include experiential workbooks, exclusive wine tasting evenings, a traditional Irish music night in the famous Matt Molloys pub, as well as a night of jazz, blues or less traditional music in the wine bar.

Your tour is based from Westport, and includes daily excursions, to focus on the experience, rather than packing and unpacking. Transport is in a roomy minibus, or people carrier, with plenty of space for equipment and gear, there is always a ‘Kelly Kettle’ in the back for coffee or tea on-the-go!.

With the whole west of Ireland being a blank canvas, to which to paint on through the lens, we will explore each day, a new part of the land, unravelling its mysteries, myths and legends as we go.

Sweeping, dramatic skies cast eerie shadows over the majestic ‘Twelve Bens’ of Connemara, they light up the horizon, like embers of a fire, blazing changing backdrops against the islands. Huge warm beams burst through the heavens, onto lush fields of green below. Oceans dance and shimmer evening sun and the light glitters in Atlantic spray. Sand whistles and cuts across pristine beaches, where sunken remnants of the Armada lie.

Ancient ruined halls and abbeys hide stories of long ago. Dark, fibrous peat contrast in linear form across the bog land at the entrance to a joining place of coastal cultures where forbidden mass would take place, high up in the hills.
